Cohort Studies
The primary aim is to identify early clinical predictors of patients with encephalitis particularly viral, as well as other causes of encephalitis with an aim to create a predictive tool that can be used for early diagnosis and treatment.
We will be contacting patients that have previously been identified by an earlier study conducted by the HPA into the aetiology of encephalitis
or known to clinicians, as well as patients who are suspected to have
encephalitis, to participate in a detailed review of their hospital case notes.
We will also ask the patients if they would like to participate in substudies:
- End User Experience and Health Care Workers in Relation to Acute Management and Long Term Care
- Neuropsychology Testing
